It seems that Volkswagen, that changed its corporate logo this September, may be followed, in regard to rebranding, by Kia Motors. According to the information coming from the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service, the automaker has made a trademark application featuring two variants of a new logotype.
As a registration entry in the KIRPIS database shows, the application was made as early as July 19th. However, it is still missing the registration date and publish date. This fact means that the Korean patent office hasn’t approved Kia’s application yet, but it’s only a technicality, and we just have to wait for an official announcement from Kia.
As for the new KIA logotype itself, it is presented in red and black versions. Compaired to VW’s rebranding with the slightly modified logo, in the KIA case, we can see a completely new design. Car enthusiasts can recall that a similar badge was on the hood of the Image concept shown by Kia at the auto exhibition in Geneva this April. Then, it had a white illumination.
We can only suppose which cars of the KIA model range will receive the new logo, but reportedly, the Korean automaker may mark with it only its electric vehicles and cars with hybrid engines.
